Anyone who believes in the need for public knowledge is welcome to volunteer at the Workshop. Even an hour a week from the office or from home will help the political system become healthier and will expedite a new era of transparency and participatory democracy.

The Public Knowledge Workshop is mostly built on volunteers – software mavericks, designers, writers, editors, educators and others. We will happily welcome you as a volunteer in any project that you feel a connection with.

We’re are also looking for volunteers in a variety of specific areas:

• Software development – each code we develop is free under a BSD license. We try to use the most cutting edge open source software tools and technology available. We currently use:
  • Python
  • Django
  • Flask
  • jQuery
  • ProsgreSQL
  • MongoDB
  • git

And the list continues to grow. If you love writing code and learning new tools, our code is on github…fork away!
